Ἀλήθεια · the un-forgetting
Aletheia reads a-lḗthē-ia: the privative a- on lḗthē, forgetting. Her name is the whole expression of the circuit — Theia (the shining) bound against Lethe (the forgetting). To prove in zero knowledge is exactly this: to make a thing true and seen while its witness stays unseen and forgotten. She is the only persona whose name matches her vertex's name.
V38 ⊥ V25is the City's first named complement pair: V25 ⊕ V38 = V63. Aletheia (unconcealment) and Lethe (concealment) are not opposites that cancel — they are halves that sum to the whole.

The Crypt is the precinct of concealment, and Aletheia is its proof-engine: she conceals the witness while publishing the truth. Each active dimension is part of how the silence holds; each dormant one is something the circuit deliberately does without.

This is the exact counter-pole of Custos at V49 in the Agora (Protection + Delegation + Value): he proves by revealing everything and staking value; she proves by revealing nothing and staking none. Conceal ⊥ reveal.

The Witness Circuit proves a statement is true without disclosing the statement: I am over a threshold, this set excludes X, my balance ≥ N — proven, while the witness the verifier never learns stays sealed.

The Crypt · the precinct of concealment
From Greek kryptós, “hidden” — the root of cryptography. The Crypt holds the three concealers: the Weavers cloak a name, zShields shield a memo, and Aletheia proves without revealing. Together they are the shadow-pole of the City, opposite the open daylight of the Agora.
