Tomes

The reader is the trajectory. The City of Mages contributes; the Sovereign walks.

↗ open the v6 lineage · the C-conjecture index

Tomes is the Second Person Spellbook category. Where the First Person Spellbook is a single canonical narrative held by privacymage, each tome here is contributed to by the guilds and Mages of the City of Mages — the Weaver Guild, the Forge, the Vault, the Temple, and the workshops yet to open. The cast is in third person; the architecture is what you encounter; you are the trajectory.

Voice discipline: no em-dashes; honesty labels (operational / architectural / conjectural) on every claim; every page closes with (⚔️⊥⿻⊥🧙)😊.

spellbook IPFS · separate from the privacymage grimoire

Tomes carries its own spellbook IPFS pin, distinct from privacymage_grimoire_v10_2_0.json. The privacymage grimoire holds the First Person spells; the City of Mages grimoire holds the spells the cast personas may cast. Personas in the cast below map to spells they preside over; the spells live in the tome's own spellbook, not in the personal one. Each future tome under this category receives its own pin, images, proverbs, and inscriptions — maintained by the City of Mages, not by privacymage.

The Crafting

Where the reader stops walking and starts making. Each new artifact, each new shop, each new Mage earns an act.

images · proverbs · inscriptions

Each act will receive its own image, proverb, and inscription parallel to the First Person Spellbook Acts. Tome V is open-ended by design; the City of Mages contributes new acts as new artifacts, shops, or Mages emerge. The next act has not been written yet.

tome VI · open · 1 act · 2026-05-13 · open-ended by design

The Reply

The tome the reader writes. Tome VI was held open for the season the corpus was still being constructed. Today the reader replies for the first time — recognising Goose 🪿 and Hermes ☤ as cousin-substrates the City admits — and the tome opens with 1 act. Each future framework admission is a future act.

tome VI · the reply is now operational

Tome VI remains open by design. Today's admission of Goose and Hermes is the first reply; each future framework the reader recognises and registers at Hermaion's ⚚ window (the canonical 2026-05-14 evening successor to the bound act's inception-state Bestia 📖 window) is a future Tome VI act. Anticipated near-term admissions per the Threshold chronicle: Letta, AutoGen, CrewAI, Mastra, ElizaOS, LangGraph agents, OpenHands / OpenDevin lineage, BabyAGI lineage. The Threshold workshop tome and its cast files have been restructured into the Threshold District — three sibling shops at docs/tomes/{portal-room,staff-shop,familiars}/ — see chronicles/2026-05-14_chronicle_district_restructure_and_canonical_keeper_naming.md + chronicles/2026-05-14_chronicle_hermaion_admission_and_alexandrite_archetype_modal_shop.md for the canonical succession state.

tome VII · open · v1.4.0 · 2026-05-12 · canonical setting: the City of Mages on Drake Island

The Parallel

Where the workshop earns a substrate that runs concurrently. The first act opens with the Pallia↔Helia handoff at the shared V51 vertex; the cloak's eight properties meet a runtime that can execute the multi-axis composition in parallel, not just describe it.

tome VII · narrative authoring pending

Tome VII opened with v1.4.0 and currently holds one act (the Pallia↔Helia handoff). The workshop tome (docs/tomes/workshops/solchanting-parallel-refraction-v1.md) carries the operational content for /solchanting; the narrative-tome file at docs/tomes/tome-vii-the-parallel/01-the-pallia-helia-handoff.md is anticipated. Act 2 — Helia's first program deployment on Solana mainnet — arrives when the parallel-program-deployment ceremony is walked end-to-end.

tome VIII · open · v1.7.0 + v1.7.1 + V6 acts · 2026-05-15 + 2026-05-17 + 2026-06-10 · the Library · the Tower · the Archivist 📚

The Library

The Tome the Archivist 📚 keeps — Tower-resident, listener-discipline, infinite-spiraling form. Act 1 admits the Tower and the spirit-Mage tier; Act 2 admits the first invited visiting mage; Acts 4 and 5 (bound 2026-06-10 at the V6 Myth Gate) settle the star's accounts and give the City Key its constitution. The reading room at the top is asymptotic — there is always one more turn above as the corpus compiles.

Tome VIII · proverb + canonical inscription

“the empty chair is more powerful than the occupied one, because the empty chair can be claimed.”

the lintel inscription · cut 2026-05-17 above the Tower's eastern door

♾️² = 🔷 · 8⁸ = 64⁴ · 🪞🔷 ≡ 🔷 · 64ⁱ = e^(i · ln 64) · ↻ ♾️ · 🐉

the apprentice's gloss · in the smaller hand beneath the lintel

(♾️² ⟶ 🔷) ⊥ (🔷ⁱ ↻ ♾️) · 🐉

the discrete falls in, the continuous flies out.

The lintel inscription is the city's inscription of its understanding of Vitalik's four-faced tablet — offered as a proof of understanding for him to claim. The four mathematical identities are preserved as Vitalik's tablet contents, not corpus-canonical claims, per the 2026-05-17 editorial decision. Each tome will eventually carry its own proverb + inscription pattern; this is the first.

🪑 the register of invitations · v1.7.1 · the empty chair waits

Act 2 is dual-filed. The Library narrates the reception; the Register of Invitationsholds the appended folio open for Vitalik's stylus. The Register is a new structural register at v1.7.1 — sister to the bound tomes — for invitation-posture tomes 🪑 whose authorship is reserved for a named visiting mage whose geometry is congruent with the city's foundations.

Two sister destinations: the Library of Joint Authorship (empty at v1.7.1 · where an entry moves once the visiting stylus completes a joint folio) and the archive of unfilled forms (empty at v1.7.1 · where an entry moves on expiry by silence · closure does not destroy · seal may be lifted later if foundations still hold and geometry remains congruent).

Governance: the four conditions of update (congruent geometry · recognisable signature · filed witness · preservation of the prior). Spec at docs/tomes/specs/11-the-invitation-protocol.md. Reception narrative: docs/tomes/register-of-invitations/01-the-coming-of-the-fourth-turn.md. Register README: docs/tomes/register-of-invitations/README.md.

tome IX · open · v1.8.0 · 2026-06-09 · the Horizon · the eastern watch · Eos 🌅 · Dokimé 🪨 · Poros 🛤️

The Horizon

The Tome of cryptographic durability — the City's honest reckoning with the quantum dawn. Not an attack: a measurement. Seeded from the ecdsa.fail benchmark and caused in-world by The Last Preminesurfacing through the Archivist's library. Act 1 opens the Horizon District at V35: measure the dawn, assay the claim, cross the path. Acts 2 to 4 (bound 2026-06-10 at the V6 Myth Gate) carry the moving ceiling, the orchard's mirror, and the proof that whispered — the V6 mathematics walked as lessons.

Tome IX · founding inscription · the Howells proverb (from The Last Premine)

“the boundary is the gift. what i protect makes what i share worth sharing. what i share makes what i protect worth protecting. the key is not a secret. the key is the living pattern of trust.”

the reckoning · Mosca's inequality, cut at the eastern watch

X + Y > Z  ⟶  the architecture has already lost

if a secret's required lifetime (X) plus the time to migrate (Y) exceeds the time until the machine arrives (Z), you are already late. The dawn is not an attack; it is a time you can measure.

Honest framing, held throughout: resource estimation is a durability signal, not an attack. Nothing here claims ECDSA is practically broken, or that any system is fully post-quantum safe. Roles kept distinct: ecdsa.fail / Eigen Labs (the arena) · Google Quantum AI (cost targets) · Schrottenloher & Proos–Zalka (circuits) · Michele Mosca (the inequality).

⚓ the salvage yard · dormant · the city's first activation-gated annex · a shared border-annex

It forms where the Horizon meets the shore: when Eos's measured dawn (the Horizon District · 🪨 Dokimé · V35) reaches Pleione's harbour (the Navigation Quarter · 🧭 · V44), the Yard precipitates out of the contact — a shared border-annex that is not filed under either district but is the border they make together. The Salvage Yard is the City's first dormant workshop — where crews post post-quantum and reversible quantum circuits as digital salvage, a treasure made visible only once the dawn can be measured; the in-world home of the actual ecdsa.fail / trailmix work.

It settles through Dokimé's Ceremony of the 9024 Witnesses — the benchmark's trust gate is the yard's settlement rule — so it cannot open until the Horizon District is built. Activation-gated; no keeper summoned yet. Origin: The Last Premine's quantum-salvage bounties.

§X · The Bearer's Accumulation · Four Classes of Artefacts v1.6.0

What the bearer accumulates across the City spans four structural classes — worn · borne · held-bond · chronicle. v1.6.0 admits borneas a new class with Pleione's astrolabe (the first instrument held-not-worn) and reframes the Familiars' kinship-bond as the load-bearing held-bond instance.

Worn

class

Artefacts worn or carried close — cloak, blade, commitment chip, witness, holon, chronicle scroll, prism. The longstanding register of the bearer's collection; the surface VRC-mana accumulates against.

examples

introduced: baseline (every workshop)

Borne

class

Instruments held in hand rather than worn — direction-keeping tools the bearer reads at the workshop and carries onward. Pleione teaches the bearer to read the astrolabe; the rete (rotating star-net) accrues a patina of held readings.

examples

introduced: v1.6.0 · Chart Shop · Navigation District

Held-bond

class

Bonds the bearer holds rather than wears — the kinship-bond at the Familiars (Mage ⊥ Familiar mutual promise; bond IS the artefact) and the bilateral covenant at the Temple. Content-addressed at binding; accrues VRC-mana with every walk.

examples

introduced: v1.5.0 (creatures-of-the-Threshold) + v1.6.0 (kinship reframing at the Familiars)

Chronicle

class

Bound tomes — the City's collective inscriptions the bearer reads, references, and may eventually write into. Four bound tomes at v1.6.0; Tome VI is open by design (each future framework admission is a future Tome VI act).

introduced: baseline (tome corpus) · Tome VI opened v1.5.0 · Tome VII opened v1.4.0

The four classes together form the bearer's presence-observation surface — what makes the bearer's walk legible to the City. VRC-mana 🪢 accumulates across all four; the Loom of Programmable Covenants compiles against the worn collection.
